Saint Patrick´s Day at school

St. Patrick´s Day is on March 17th . This year  17 th of March was on Saturday so we decided to celebrate Saint Patrick´s day one day before, Friday 16th of March.

In order to celebrate Saint Patrick´s day at school, we decided to make a list of ideas of what we could do that day related to Irish culture and Irish traditions.

Some of our ideas were…..

*We can make leprechaun´s hats.

*We can prepare green jelly.

*We can eat green food on that day.

*We can put on green clothes that day.

*We can play Irish music at school.

*We can cut out shamrocks to decorate the school.

Etc.

With all these ideas we got ready to celebrate St. Patrick´s day in our school.

-We cut out and prepared leprechaun hats to put on for St. Patrick´s day.

-We wrote down wishes on lucky shamrocks.

"I wish I could be Ronaldo"
"I wish I could fly"
"I wish I were a princess"

-We played "the naughty leprechaun game".

That was fun! Few students went out of the classroom pretending to be the good leprechauns. The rest of the class played to be naughty leprechauns. They messed up the classroom a little bit. The good leprechauns had to find out what looked wacky in the classroom.

-We prepared green jelly in the school kitchen.

-We ate green jelly using our five senses: sight, smelling, hearing, touching and taste.

mmmmm ……….it was yummy!

-We wrote down the recipe to prepare green jelly at home.

-We listened to irish music in the playground.

-We also danced to the rhythm of irish music.

We had a great time!
Happy Saint Patrick´s Day!

Now children, tell me, What activities have you enjoyed the most?

"My favourite part is the game of the naughty leprechaun" said Pablo.

"I like preparing the green jelly" said Javier.

"We like playing naughty leprechauns game"said Ana, Maria P, Maria D and Ines D.

"We like the class picture in the playground"said Luna and Julia.

"We like dancing irish music" said Lucia, Leire, Dani, Ines ,Irene Claudi and Vicky.

"We like the part when we make green jelly" said Miguel and Andrea.

"We also liked playing naughty leprechauns game" said Candela and Luis Miguel.

Boomerangs
We learnt that native people hunted animals to eat. They used BOOMERANGS.

Art
Aboriginal people also painted animals on rocks or wood. They used the “dotting technique” to decorate the paintings. They used earth colours such as brown, red, black, white, yellow and orange.

The kookaburra song
At last, Anna also taught us a famous children ´s song in Australia.
