A visit from Australia

            A visit from Australia
Anna, Thomas and Michael came to Spain to visit Vera and her family. They are from Australia.

Story telling
Anna stayed with us in a big classroom. Thomas and Michael went to see the 3 and 4 year olds. Anna read us a big book. It was the "Rainbow Fish" book.
The First people in Australia.
Anna told us about a group of people who first lived in Australia
Aboriginal people used sand colours to paint their bodies.

     Animals

We  also learnt about some animals that live in Austrlalia: the kookaburra, the kangaroo, the koala and the platypus.

The kookaburra.
It is a bird. It makes a funny noise.

Clik on the link and listen to the kookaburra ´s noise.

Boomerangs
We learnt that native people hunted animals to eat. They used BOOMERANGS.

Art
Aboriginal people also painted animals on rocks or wood. They used the “dotting technique” to decorate the paintings. They used earth colours such as brown, red, black, white, yellow and orange.

The kookaburra song
At last, Anna also taught us a famous children ´s song in Australia.

Listen to the song sung by some children on the following website.
